US bias.

"The software has been criticised for being too US-focussed. Notably, the default setting is to imperial units, despite metric units being the international standard; this can be changed in the Google Earth personal preferences, but is not easy to locate, leading to accusations of cultural imperialism. The search engine is also criticised for its US focus; for example, entering in searches for "Birmingham" and for "St. Petersburg" bring up US cities, as opposed to the original larger cities of those names in the UK and Russia respectively. Similarly, places outside of the US cannot be found with the search function unless the country name is added and written out in full, whilst with US places, there are many easier paths to find data."
